Cavities Are Skillfully Replaced With Dental Fillings in Indianapolis

tooth fillings

A cavity can be detrimental to anyone’s dental health, and when one develops in your mouth, you will need a tooth filling to prevent any further damage. Dr. Hollander provides patients around the Indianapolis area with the care they need so that their smiles look and feel great. Dental fillings are just one of the services we offer in addition to dental crowns, veneers and bridges. If you suspect that something is wrong with a tooth, schedule an appointment before the issue gets worse.

Temporary and Permanent Tooth Restoration

Dr. Hollander is able to detect tooth decay during routine dental exams, and during this time, you will be able to discuss your permanent or temporary restoration options. Fillings can be made out of a number of different materials, and you will need to decide which one is best for you based on appearance and extent of the damage. Some materials include:

1. Composite resin – These are tooth-colored fillings that can be customized to match the color of your natural teeth. This way they blend in perfectly. However, they often need to be replaced within five years.

2. Ceramic – These white fillings are made out of porcelain, a non-porous substance that is very difficult to stain, meaning you will have a beautiful smile for years to come.

3. Metal – Silver amalgam fillings are available and are noted for their strength and durability. If you want no silver, gold fillings are also offered, which can remain viable for 15 years. These materials can stand out in a smile, so they are often reserved for restoring teeth in the back of the mouth.
